Common grades of compression molding mold materials
Compression molding technology is mainly used to form thermosetting plastics in an open mold cavity. The thermosetting plastic in the mold cavity is solidified by heating and applying pressure. Compression molding is commonly used for the molding of plastics containing glass-reinforced fibers.
This technology is usually used for glass fiber-added plastic parts and generally uses high pressure. Mold materials must have certain wear resistance, strength and hardness.
Compression molding has the following advantages:
No wasted raw materials (no sprues or sprue systems)
Minimize internal stress in parts
Process suitable for heavy-duty parts
Reduce equipment costs
The recommended product grades are SDWST series DHMAX, DYMAX, DYCM7, UINPM DYCM8 DYX11 DYX3, and stainless steel grades, such as S136USR, DYRAX HLMAX and PMRAX
